Cat Transport
Always be sure you tell your car transport brokerage exactly what type of vehicle you are shipping. Most car transport companies don’t need the exact dimensions of a 2008 Toyota Corolla – it is a common car, and most all compact cars are able to fit onto a car transport carrier with no problems whatsoever. However, if you have a 1997 ford F-350 Super-Duty Extended-Cab 4×4 with a four-inch lift and 50 inch tires, you have a major problem. If your vehicle is larger than most other vehicles, it is best to let your car transport company know, especially if it is a pickup truck. Pickup trucks are designed to be utilized based on their size, so the more specifics you can give your car transport company, the better off you’ll be. If a car transport carrier comes to your door to pickup your vehicle thinking it is smaller than it is, you could wind up paying even more money to find a carrier that can haul it, or your car transport carrier could just drive away, leaving you holding your keys and kicking yourself in the head.
Another thing that can cause delays is misrepresenting where the vehicle is coming from and going to. Many customers have a notion that car transport will be cheaper from large city to large city – while this can be the case, if you live in a smaller city on the outskirts of a metropolitan area, it’s always best to give the specific city you live in as opposed to the major city you live near to. This is because car transport carriers often base their prices on how many miles it’ll take them to drive from interstate to interstate; a vehicle that is fifty miles away from a major highway is not “close” in any sense of the word, and car transport carriers, if they think they’re going to city A and they are then informed they have to drive to city B, they aren’t particularly happy. Always make sure you give your car transport company all the information about both pickup and delivery.
When you book with a car transport company, it will take some time from when the order was booked to when the car transport carrier will arrive. Most car transport companies will ask you for your first available pickup date; what this is is the first date that you can actually release the vehicle to the car transport carrier; it is NOT a guaranteed pickup date. No car transport company will ever guarantee a pickup or delivery date for your car transport; they cannot predict when the car transport carrier will arrive, which is why they let you know it’ll usually be between one to seven days – other car transport companies have different pickup windows, but every car transport company has one. Please allow them the full pickup time before starting to pitch a fit; they do their best to get your vehicle moved, but car transport is anything but an exact science, so please be prepared to wait, especially if you are looking for pickup or delivery to any remote locations.
